The farm 

‘Ou skool’ means Old school and was one of the original farm schools in the Buffelsdrif –area. Restored and loved by the Smit-family giving you just A touch of Plaas * (‘Plaas’ means ‘farm’)

With a separate entrance ,the farm-chic part of the old house supply private access to the 2 big bedrooms with own bathrooms , self catering kitchen and a fireplace where you can enjoy week-ends or holidays with your family.

Kotie and Rina, the hosts, came from a farming background, had business

They love meeting new people from all over the world to introduce them to this unique farm and enjoy the peacefulness.experiences and were living in Mozambique for 15 years. Being back in their own country, living from the farm, enjoy nature and their very diverse culture.

Rina is bottling, preserving and cooking Jams, preserves and also working with olives and olive products.  style in the Karoo. Kotie is tending the farm.

Their grandchildren often visit them and love the special attention from Maggie the farm’s Great Dane, collecting eggs and chasing the kittens

The neighbourhood

The Karoo is a semi-desert area with different eco systems. Although succulents and aloes are often normal sightings, the area is also known for very high quality of fruit like peaches, pears and apricots, The vineyards produce to cellars and won recent prices for outstanding wines all over the world. The mountains and passes in the district are well loved by bikers and hikers. In the town are some very

interesting architectural designs in houses, old beautiful church hosting the tourism office. The town of Ladismith also have 2 cheese factories who won world wide prices for their exquisite taste. About an hour drive is the famous town Outshoorn with the Cango caves and ostrich farms still to visit.
